RE: Autumn Assassins
Nice story John. That is pretty funny about that hog. Were you able to find him in the morning as well.
Good luck BB. Hope you find some time to get out there. |
RE: Autumn Assassins
Yea found him too. He was only about 75 yards from where I shot him. Why couldn't the deer had gone down so quick....LOL.

RE: Autumn Assassins
Good track drop and way to stick with him. With it being that warm, it was probably good that the deer was still alive in the morning as if it expired early it may have spoiled. It was 90 here this weekend, thats just not right for MN in October. This week its supposed to cool into the uperr 50s, that will be nice!

RE: Autumn Assassins
I cannot wait for this heat to go away! Sweating my ears off getting eaten up by mosquitos is not my idea of whitetail hunting. I have now gone 3 sits in a row without a single sighting and I still have yet to see a single buck from the stand. Hopefully the low pressure system coming in tomorrow will get the deer moving again, but we shall see.

RE: Autumn Assassins
Yeah that is what I thought to. I went out last night because we got that weather already and I seen the same ol doe as usual and nothing else. They were not moving at all. Hopefully you will have some better luck than me.

RE: Autumn Assassins
I think I have decided to not hunt my place at all until the 26th. I will only scout and hunt (mostly scout) my new lease until then. This helps me accomplish 2 things. The first is to learn the land that I am paying for and perhaps luck into a good Indiana buck. The other is to not spook anything off my land until they actually start moving around more. Does that make any sense?

RE: Autumn Assassins
Make sense to me...of course it is always 90+ down here when the season starts...I just assumed that everyone sweated like I do while on the stand....LOL.

RE: Autumn Assassins
Our season is open through the rut, but its rifler season. I can and will continue to hunt with my bow, but my father is coming from pa. to go elk and deer hunting for the last two weeks of our season wich is when the rut will be.
