just checkin in. Been doing a lot of scouting and stand hanging lately. Season starts this saturday. I will be in south georgia for a wedding and won't be back until sunday afternoon. So opening day for me will be Sunday evening.

Hia checkin in here. I was only able to hunt for an hour this weekend so i picked up the rifle. Had 6 different bucks in but nothin worth pullin the pin on. I scouted hard saturday and sunday, got a stand hung monday morning and drove back to university. This location is thee best spot i have ever hunted whitetail on. The land has faithfully pumped out big bucks over the years and now this year i have been given permission to hunt it. I have my stand set up in a large bluff on a trail that leads out to a long run in an alfalfa field. The deer use the run in the field to stay out of sight so my thinkin is 9 out of 10 deer are going to use my trail to enter the run. I will get home again to hunt friday and then will be home for a month to teach school and hunt. I have never been so excited and confident in a stand in my life. oh yes there will be blood.

Hey guys, hows the hunting been going for everyone. I have just got back from my Illinois trip. I was there for about 5 days. It was areal different type of hunting than what I am use to here in Kentucky, but man there are some BIG bucks there. I went in completely blind about the place I was going to hunt and did not know what to expect and I have to say it was some hard hunting, but I had a blast. I did not put a buck on the ground but saw the biggest deer I had every seen (It was UNBELIEVEABLE), buthe never came within range (Darn it!) So I quess I will try to work in another trip to Illinois, so I can have another chance to fill my tag.

How is everything going with all of you guys?

I realize today that i only have till halloween to archery hunt after that all of the seasons are strictly rifle. I better get my arse in gear and get out there, ain't been out once yet, sorry guys but univeristy complicates things. I got a mint setup though and i have faith in it producing within the next few weeks but i will not shoot a bambi just for the sake of gettin a bow kill. I am still a horn hunter and can use my tag in rifle if need be but i am goin out friday and sat evenings to giver my all.

Hey ya all only been out a couple times do to a toothache that would kill a bear. Have seen some deer moving around but nothing I would take this early in the game. Can't wait till the first week of November. I wish all you guys lots of luck.

Quick update...I hunted for the first time this season tonight. I got back from Savannah around 5:00pm and was in my stand at 5:30. I was able to squeeze an hour for opening weekend here in north Alabama. I had a red fox bed down about 15 yards from me but other than that, no deer. I will be back out there for a couple evening hunts this week and then hitting the mountain (hunting club) hard and heavy this weekend.
