RE: 21 - Team "The DEERmenators" Official Thread
I think we all understand how Bowhunting is-no apologies needed.
Just enjoy the hunting & good times. I still have till mid. Jan. after Dec. gun season. |

Agreed. Just hope everything is cool and that you can get back out next year. That's what it's all about. Not getting a deer for this contest. Again, hope all is well with the move.
Well, have not seen much action except until about an hour after dark sets it. Almost hit plenty of deer then around my hunting area. But I'm holding out hope. Got the trail cam out and have been out a few times with no deer in sight. The last gun season I saw plenty of deer as the other hunters were pushing them around. Our muzzleloading season is open now and the number of muzzleloaders has been gradually increasing. Just not enough to put some pressure on the deer to get them moving during daylight. I'm hoping activity picks up in the late afternoons like it did last year once we got some snow on the ground. Supposed to get some snow this week and its cooling down from the 50s to the 20s. I still have until the end of December and plenty of warm clothes!:) |

Anyone still hunting? We have til Dec.30. I may try to get out this weekend but haven't seen much sign. Food sources in my area dwindling and it has been in the teens or single digits this week. brrrrrrrrrrr. Supposed to be back into the 30s and 40s this weekend and next week though.

im all done fellas, season is over[:@]
No dice on any deer for me this year, saw a real nice buck during bow season, but nothing during shotgun, everything was either too far away, wrong spot or no deer at all (happened many many times). Hopefully the 10 or so bucks i saw make it through the year and will be bigger next year :D Good luck fellas! |

Well, I've still got one month to hunt here in Kentucky. I haven't seen any mature deer, but now I'm focused on does and freezer meat. A couple should give us enough meat to enjoy.
It's always sad for the season to close, but there's always next season. Enjoy the time off MDManiac, next season will be here before we know it. kelly |

Hey fellas-I am still kicking. Haven't been out since gun season ended-have to let them settle down some-still have a few weeks left. With Christmas & a little health problems for the wife would have been difficult.
Anyway-I still have a couple antlerless & my Buck tag. Merry Christmas to all. I will post the picture of the BUCK "I am going to get YET". |

Hey Chucker...
Just a word of thanks on how you responded to the lack of participation thread. Not everyone is as talkative or posts as much as others, yet still enjoy the contest. I agree with how you responded. Some folks just have more to say or are more familiar with some of the other participants, so therefore will check in and post more often. I think we have a great team, even if not everyone had the opportunity to drop a buck. I enjoyed it and would be happy to be on this team any year. Merry Christmas to all of you. Kelly |
RE: 21 - Team "The DEERmenators" Official Thread
Agreed Kelly,
A lot of times I will cruise through the threads and if I don't have something constructive to say, I won't say anything. (It took me two weeks to respond to your post! :D) I think our team has a lot of potential for getting some nice bucks. If anyone else was like me, they saw some nice ones, just never had a chance at them. But, as they always say, that's hunting. If everything works out, you will be in the right place at the right time. If not, there's always next season. Good luck to all and have a Happy and Safe New Year's, Steve |
RE: 21 - Team "The DEERmenators" Official Thread
I did take an adult Doe just b/4 gun season (I don't gun hunt) & have passed on a couple more Bucks-twin forkys at 15 yards yesterday. I have also passed on a few small Does. I have passed on 3 forkys, 2 6s & one decent 8 within 20 yards or less so I have already had a good season.
I have had 2 very good Bucks around-just haven't been able to get em close enough. If the manage my property was for me, I am hunting public ground where I have seen the above Deer. On the private ground I hunt I have had little near my stand but then my Daughter has been with & we are trying for her to get her 1st Deer with a bow. After 50 years of Bowhunting & nearly 150 kills I just really can't get into the Doe shooting though I know I should. I gave the one I took earlier this year to a needy family as I did in the past few years. I have an Elk & 1/2 of beef in the freezer so I am not gonna starve. I still have until mid Jan. to fill my other tags. Good Luck fellas. ![]() |
