RE: 11- Team Official Thread
Just remember guys, this rule will be enforced this year. A deer or two every year get entered without the full deer in the pic, and this year they wont be accepted.
7. You must have a pictured posted on the contest page within the Official Score Card thread to enter a deer. The bow must be in the picture and the entire deer must be in the picture, no skull pictures, no rack pictures...the buck, the bow, and yourself must be in the picture.....call me skeptical. This rule will be enforced this year, no exceptions with no apologies. As the teams pick a captain, please reinforce/remind the rule as much as possible....thanks so much and eveyone, have fun and have a great season. |
RE: 11- Team Official Thread
Plot update- it has gotten three rains of about 1" each since planting 10 days ago, and it is jumping out of the ground. This is part of it, you can see the strip of leftover Tecomate Pea Patch running through the center of it.

RE: 11- Team Official Thread
Youngbuck41,
Even though it's not what I do for a living now, the paper on the wall still says I am a wildlife biologist ;), andif you want some really good info on food plots and plotting methods a really good place to start is over on the QDMA forums, they have a forum specifically on plotting and it is busy all the time. There is TONS of good info over there. But to answer your question more specifically I like mixes, and sometimes even mixes of mixes, because of the way deer browse. They are always testing for peak palatability and will eat what is most nutritious at the moment, which varies from week to week. That particular plot is only 1/4 acre, so it is heavy in annuals to try and stand the pressure. It was seeded with about30 lbs winter wheat, 3-4 lbs leftover Tecomate Pea Patch (5 cultivars), a pound or so of Shot Plot (3 flavors of brassicas), and 1/2 pound of chicory just in case it turns dry again. Be advised that the TX Panhandle is one of the few places in the U.S. that doesn't need lime if you are in heavily wooded areas, most other places do. 200 lbs per acre of 19-19-19 will help alot too, but if your soil is too acidic (meaning you need lime) you will be throwing the fertilizer away because it will bind with the soil. If this is confusing, just head on over to the QDMA forums, it might take some time but we'll get you on the right track. Here is a closeup where you can see the different plants in the mix. |

I don't know if hunting.net supports it, but I have macromedia so I could make a flash logo....
