Gun season opens here in about 17 hours and 4 minutes, so I'm REALLY looking foward to that!! Gonna be out from sun-up to sundown tomorrow (saturday), and Sunday up to down, and ill be out shining tonight from the truck, trying to establish patterns. Hope i can get a 140 + buck, so that I can help out the team, I've got pictures of a ton of em in the area I hunt, so......

Well, GOOD LUCK ALL!!

Hunted HARD this weekend and blew a shot on a 135+" 5X5 - he's still in the area so i should have him over turkey day. Almost dropped the hammer on a 130+" 4x4 but wanted that 5x5 pretty badly. The'yre there and I should have some pics and a score by the end of the week.

hey guys sorry i havent checked in for awhile been busy. Pa rifle season opens here on the 28th and we got some monsters running around my property, so it should be interesting. I however am not gona wait for a monster the first buck i see im going to introduce to a 105gr slug from my 6mm rem ;). Hopefully he's a nice one but im going to take whatever cards get handed to me. Its usually hard enough to see 1 buck a season so if i see him im gona drop the hammer. Good luck boys.

hey guys,
I havent been around here much because Illinois shotgun 1st season was last weekend; Firday, Saturday, and Sunday. I hunted pretty hard this weekend but came away with one of the least productive 1st seasons in a long time. I saw one buck running on friday about 200 yards away, I sawa six pointer on sunday that didnt present a shot, and I saw another six pointer shortly after that i could have taken an easy shot at, and I had a half rack at full sprint run right at me. That was all, all season. I hunt with my dad and my older brother too. However, my dad, who is hunting in a spot that has less shooting areas, but has a greater view of some fields up to 400 yards away, saw a bunch of deer, including some monsters. My brother only saw a couple also. The only reason I did not shoot that six pointer that I could have was because I was really hoping to take one of those bigger bucks we have seen out there. Hopefully it did not bit me in the butt! My dad scored on a decent 9-pointer on saturday out of the stand i usually hunt because my brother was sick, and I had to work that morning. Either way, I am still happy about it. Ill post a pic below. The buck had broken brow tines, and each G-2 was broken real far down as well. Oh well, Im hoping to get lucky second season coming in about a week and a half.

thanks, he said a smaller 8 walked out first....and he saw something behind him in the brush so he let it walk...and then this guy came out at about 8 yards.....and with a slug gun, he dropped within about 40 feet. However, a much bigger 10-pointer walked in range about 50 yards away about 30 minutes later, and he had to let him pass since he only had a antlerless permit left. This year has had the most big bucks ever in our area, so I hope I can still get one. Across the road, one kid has got a 14 pointer the other day, which would probably score about 160 or so, and he got a 10 pointer which is pretty nice i heard in bow season. This is all within probably 500-700 yards of our stands across the road. So they are out there, Im just waiting to get one within my sights. Good luck guys.

Well guys, I haven't had a whole lot of luck the past 2 weeks. Seen way too many young bucks to count and a few 2 year olds that will make real good deer in a year or two. I shot a doe Saturday with a .44 mag pistol and that is all I have shot so far this year. On the other hand,
here is a good story and another hunter hooked for life. My 15 year old cousin shot his first deer this weekend. His parents don't hunt, so my uncles, other cousins, and my family all take turns taking him to the woods. He loves hunting and enjoys going with all of us. Saturday he was sitting with my dad on our place and a monster comes down the draw in front of their stand. Keep in mind, he has never even shot at a deer. It keeps walking while my dad is trying to get to stop by grunting at him. It finally stops at 180 yards and my cousin takes a shot and puts it right on the heart. It was a 16 point monster that green scored 184 1/8" non-typical. Makes another big deer on the wall from our place. And for all the people that think Oklahoma can't produce trophy deer, I have to disagree. We consistently put good deer on the wall. Here are a couple of pics of the deer he shot. Sorry, they aren't in the field, those pics haven't been developed yet. I thought he would score 160-165" but he will fool you. We scored him several times and got close to the same score every time. He is a 160" main frame 10 point with 24 inches of abnormal points. It will be hard for him to beat this one!!

This deer and all of these deer have come off the same place in the last 8 years, can't complain for some Okie deer!!

Well fella's i scored for us today. Nothing big but a nice 4pt. I'd say he'll score around 50 or so he's got some nice main beam length for a 4. Ill get pictures developed here in teh next week or so and post em. Good luck boys!

way to go deerslayer!!

Hopefully this weekend I can add some points to our team score because 2nd season shotgun opens this thursday in Illinois and goes til sunday. I did not bow hunt once since the 1st gun season, which was the Fri, Sat, Sun, of the weekend before thanksgiving.....Im hoping maybe everything has cooled off out there, and the deer will be in the area more. Before the first season, someone had at least been bowhunting out there like 15 out of the last 20 days.....so there sure was some pressure. Anyways...congrats deerslayer, and millertime congrats to your cousin, thats a nice deer! Good luck everyone.
