RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)

WOW....bit of a long story here fellas, so stay with me. Yesterday, I got off work a little early as we caught up to one of the other trades and had nothing left to do. I decided I'd go play some golf, and a guy asked me if he could play along with me. I said sure fine. We played the front nine, and I shot 37 (+2), and he shot 45. We made the turn, and grabbed a couple drinks for the back, and he was telling me he owns one of the local resorts.
As we were playing, he asked me how I hit my fairway woods so well. I told him it's not really any different from a driver, just no tee...ya gotta sweep it. Trying to shorten a bit, he asked to hit my woods and hit them fine but couldn't hit his own. I build my own clubs, and he asked me if I could build a set for him, and asked how much it would cost. I told him he had to pay for the components up front and we'd work on the labor part of it.
He went on to ask me what other hobbies I had other than golf, and I told him I hunt a lot and fishing, and few other things. He suddenly says "I got a deal for ya!" I bit and said what? He said he and his wife had bought 70 acres of land 15 years ago, and finally managed to build on it just this spring. He asked me if I'd like to HUNT his 70 acres for building his clubs......OMG! A prime piece of Wisconsin River bottom ground that hasn't been hunted in 15 years?!? HMMMMMM....let me think.......YOU GOT A DEAL MONTY! hahaha Just had to share it with you fellas....will be trying to get out there this weekend.

RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)MY TROPHY

She is here, after 9 long months our baby girl, Claire, has arrived!!

She weighed 10lbs exactly and was 22inches long. This was the most amazing experince of my life!!She was born sunday afternoon at 1:56pm. Mom and baby are doing great, I have a new found repect for my wife she did this without any pain medication.(Thank God I'm a man!!)
This might affect my season a llittle bit but it is definitely worth it didn't know I could feel this way about someting so quick.
I've still got my eye on a few good bucks, I'll just have to use my time in the woods more wisely this year!!

Saw a nice one about 90 yards from one of my stands yesterday. Tough to judge in the foliage but I'd guess he'd go 135"-140"+. Very Very tall rack and slightly wider than his ears. Mass was hard to tell from that distance. He seems to be on the same pattern as a nice 12 with 10" tines and a drop tine I shot there in 99. Maybe his great grandson?

Cant wait!!!

CONGRATS HAMMERMAN ON THE LITTLE GIRL ANY PICTURES.
JUST GOT BACK FROM MY SECOND HAUL ROAD HUNT. THIS ONE WAS A WEEK FOR CARIBOU AND A WEEK FOR MOOSE. PARTNER ARROWED A NICE 'BOU, I WAS SKUNKED AGAIN EXCEPT FOR PINTAIL, PUDDLE DUCK AND 4 PTARMIGAN. PARTNER ALSO GOT PIONTAILS, CANADA GOOSE , PTARMIGAN AND A RUFFED GROUSE. MISSED OPPORTUNITY AT A BEAUTIFUL WOLF. ALSO HAD WOLF CHEW THE HECK OUT OF MY COOLER AND THE PLASTIC ANCHOR WAS CHEWED OFF MY ANCHOR LINE. LUCKY I HAD TWO ANCHORS OR WHO KNOWS WHERE THE BOAT WOULD HAVE ENDED UP.... NO ROADS DOWNSTREAM FROM WHERE THE BOAT WAS. IT EVEN CARRIED THE 12 POUND ANCHOR 20 YARDS. DARNEST THING I'VE SEEN.
I NEED TO CHECK WITH MY HUNTING PARTNER IN WI TO SEE HOW THE SCOUTING IS GOING LATER TODAY.

LATER PAT

I sawrubs!! Just off the trail I ride my bike on about 150yds from where I plan on setting up, two small clusters of saplings were rubbed up really good. I don't think it's any of the big boys I've been seeing but it lets me know that I'm in a good area.

Only 1weekto go!!!

RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)

Well guys, the resort owner's land fell through when it turned out his wife is more of an animal lover than he thought. She doesn't care about small game and turkey, but absolutely NO deer hunting. Oh well....I guess she just cost him a bit of money to get his clubs built...lol More gas $ to go hunting elsewhere...haha
I've got yet another line on a huge farm that my boss has hunted the last couple years, and I'm hoping this one works out as there are some huge bucks there. Either way I've always got my place and my dad's land, but it's always nice to have more options. Good luck fellas, and BTW... season will be a week old here on Sat.

Is BOWFAN or bow..oh our captain?? Can't remember. Anyway, here's how I'm seein things at this point; MDE hasn't checked in for a while now, but I know he's in college I believe.(Not that ALL colleges don't have a few hundred comps hooked to net...lol) Also, that tazzdaboy or whatever his name was has only posted twice on our thread, and not since like the 22nd of August. I'm thinking our capt. needs to send these boys a wake up call to at least let us know if they're still with us or not, and if not to see if we could get an alternate yet.

Dang tazz...ya had us pretty worried that ya didn't check in at all for over a month. That and the fact the last time you posted at all it was about buying a bow. Just try to keep us posted on how your season is going at least once per week. Good luck.

Thanks for keeping tabs on me, guys. I'm still around, and I've been in the woods quite a bit. Spent 5 days last weekend out bear hunting in northern MN.....bears haven't been coming in too well yet (still a lot of food in the woods). I'll be giving that a go again next weekend. I've set up afew stands for deer as well. Season has been open around here for a bit now, and I've put some good hours in the stand, buthaven't seen anyshooters yet. My hunting partner caught a glimpse of a great buck last night on our land though. We saw him last year and he had 13 pts up top then.....needless to say, I'll be chasing him around all this weekend! Good luck everyone! And congrats on the new little hunter, hammer!

It's 10:45pm and I'm going to bed! Hope fully to get up at 2:30am and be in the parking lot @ 3:30am and in the stand at 4:30. I know it's really early but they only allow 12 hunters in the zone I want to be in and you can sign in 2 hours before sunrise, I plan on being the first to sign in and claim my spot for the day. Good luck to everyone and may your arrows fly straight with a complete pass thru!!
