RE: Official RACK PACK (7) Thread
Put the new trail cam out in my favorite honey hole tonight. Hope to have some pics by the weekend. Had a 140 class 8 pointer I was working on all last season. Saw him on that spot on the last day of the late season so no one killed him. He ought to be a bruiser this year!

Well I went out Sunday morning for a couple of hours, all I saw were a few doe. Right now I see alot more movement in the evening. I don't know when I will get out again my wife should be having our first BABY any day. Due to the new baby I'm plan on limiting my time early in the season and focus more on the end of Oct. and the first two weeks of Nov. If I'm not around for a few days I'm probably holding our BABY!!:D:D:D

RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
Thought I'd let everyone know I saw "BUCKZILLA" this morning!!! I went out scouting on public property that has beans growing on it I first saw a doe and then this buck raised his head!!! He was about 175yards out, I pulled up the binos to check him out and OH MY 16pts. I took some video of him but he's so far out and it was a little foggy that yoou can't tell much about him other than he is HUGE, and he was only 30yds from where I was planning on hanging a stand!!! Now if he will stay around for another month!!
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
i hope you bag him
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
Good luck on that buck!!! Of course,as a member of the Rack Pack, luck will have nothing to do with it!
Go get him!;) |
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
Good luck on him, I'm thinking we're gonna need every inch we can get with some of the pics that have been posted on here lately. I'm currently working on locking down a couple more spots for the season yet, as the jury's been out on them both for a while now. One thing I've learned around here though is to NOT push the issue with these landowners. Anyway, both of the places I'm looking at have several big bucks on them, and the one hasn't been hunted in ten years! As soon as I lock down either one, I'll be getting my cameras out and will post pics as they come. Good luck fellas, season opens 2 weeks from today here in WI!

Unless my wife goes into labor tonight I'm going scouting Monday morning. I hope to get out an hour before sunrise and get some better video so you guys can see this monster.
Oct.1st can't get here soon enough!! |
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
dang you have your hands full im glad im not married
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
No Baby yet but I did get some good news! I went out tonight and got some video of a really big 10pt and a couple of shots of a bruiser!! I don't know how big he was but he is big. I had to film using "nite pix" function so when I transfer to a picture it's really dark and grainy. If I can find a place to upload the video I will try that. It look fairly clear on my TV but horrible on the computer.
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
Sorry guys no luck with the video, once I transfer from mini-DV to the computer it looks so grainy you can't see anything but a big blur. I'm going back one more morning for more video and to narrow down where I want to place my stands.
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
Here's the link to my video from saturday. It's not clearbut you get the idea of how big he is, this was shot from 150-170 yds away!http://www.huntingfootage.com/showphoto.php?photo=1662
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
It doesn't NEED to be crystal clear to see that's a bruiser hammer. Best of luck to you this year taking him down. If that's on public land it's even a bigger accomplishment because of the situation. Can leave tree stands up in your public lands? Here in WI, we're not allowed to leave them up, and we have to use strap on steps intead of screw in ones because they consider the screw-in ones to be damaging. I've even been hearing that they get a little touchy about the marks a climber puts on the trees. SHEESH!
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
I can use a stand but it has to be taken down when I leave. I've got a lone wolf that I'm going to use it seems to do less damage, plus I've got about a 2 1/2mile bike ride back to this locationso I have to go as light as possible.
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
The video is clear enough to show he's a HAWG! Good luck "ventilating" him.
|
RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)

good news Jeff! Pa opener is Oct 1 not Oct 8

RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
My Pa spot has a pretty good buck (8 points and around 138-140" at the end of last year) and I'll hunt there early and would shoot him in a heartbeat given the chance but he'd be one I'd pass on our Illinois lease ( I go there for two weeks Nov 5) No doubt I'll shoot him if he presents a chance but it'll be mixed emotions if I already shot my wad before my Illinois hunt.
You know, mixed emotions, the kind you get watching your new pickup go over a cliff....... with your mother in law in it;) |

RE: Official RACK PACK Thread(7)
My season opens this saturday in GA it is my first time hunting with a bow. At my high school we have to do a senior project and spend 100 hours doing it and 25 of those hours with a mentor. I have always wanted to shoot a bow so i chose archery> i have loved it so far and hope to arrow a doe saturday morning although a buck would be great.
