Just curious what the average size buck was for last year's contest?

Yep, seemed like it was somewhere around 100 inches. Buckeye had a post with all the stats in it, maybe he can pull it up.

That's cool. Means I should be in the "average" group this year if I'm lucky. Here is a pick of my 8 pointer I got last year. I shot an 8 pointer the year previous with a rack that looks almost the same. Must be the same gene pool. I don't want to post that pic because it's just his cape in a box when I dropped it off at the taxidermist. The dumb disposable camera ruined the film from the woods. I have since bought a digital.

What do you guys estimate the score on this one is? Thanks.

Well this for sure isn't scientific at all. I went through the harvest post adding up all the scores for the top 4 states. I could only count the ones who had a state in their info so I am sure this is not 100% correct.

Here is what I came up with:

PA 9 deer for aprox 610 inches. avg of aprox 68 inches.

IL 6 deer for aprox 645 inches. avg of aprox 108 inches.

OH 6 deer for aprox 653 inches. avg of aprox 109 inches.

KS 3 deer for aprox 433 inches. avg of aprox 144 inches.


And the state awards go to.........

PA for harvesting the most bucks.
OH for the highest cumulative score.
KS for highest overall average score.

To add to that, 230 huntersentered 57 bucks.

A total of 5664 4/8 inches of antler were harvested.

With a gross average of 99 3/8 inches per buck. BUT the average hunters score really was only 24 6/8 inches.

I would say 97 inches.

G2 Shooter, congrats on a nice deer. It looks very similar to the buck i shot last year. I would guess it around 102 inches

buckeye, thanks for the info. Must be nice to hunt out in KS and see deer like in the videos. I don't think I have ever seen anything over a 120 in my area.

Thanks PA. I was guessing around 100 but didn't know about the broken tine. I have seen two big ten pointers the last 2 years but haven't seen them this year. :( I hope they are still there hiding somewhere. There are still some nice eights running around already.
