LMAO.........I've been reading descriptions of us as being "has beens" and so on. The fact of the matter is The Elite 8 will always be known in bowhunting circles as the first world champions of HNI. We shall always be revered and talked about in the same breath as legendary Green Bay Packer coach Vince Lombardi. Whatever happens in future contests.............we will always be the first and with our enthusiasm, consistency, efficientcy, attitude, and skill......it will most likely not be the last. :D;)[8D]:D
The same breath as Vince Lombardi?! Revered?! WOO HOO HOO! HAH HAH HA! Oh my god my ribs hurt. WOOOO, that was a good one.

Yeah, you guys will always be the first, I'll give you that. But being the first in a bunch of teams that only got 2-3 bucks doesn't say much. You only had competition from one team and they were hot on your tails. This year is gonna be different for you guys. You're not going to be able to have a couple of your teamates carry the rest of you no-tagging-out bums!

ORIGINAL: Tribal

I personally would not to use another teams idea. It would be easy to come up with another If I were them that would be the only choice. However if they did use our taglinewe would be forcedto collect profitsbeing our tagline is in syndicate.
You can always expect knock-offs when your product is number one!
Cougar as captain you call it. If they really want it I don't think we can stop them. But they certainly are not being innovative.
As I stated in my email to Cougar Mag, which he convienently didn't mention, we came up with the name before we knew about your logo. As far as being syndicated, innovative or a knock off, I don't believe that your team came up with the phrase "The Buck Stops Here". Maybe the first team to put it in that grade school logo of yours, but hardly innovative.

You guys don't have to worry about a thing. We are going with the name "Team Buckstoppers". Our logo will be changed by Monday afternoon. We didn't want anything associated with the losing team in this years competition.

(Cougar Mag, you can send me my check of $50 for firing up your team now! MUHAHAHAHA!)

Just some nice, friendly trash talk. ;)
Bottom line, good luck to all!

I got an ideal guys, how about we work on getting a shirt made up of the Elite 8 with our names on it stating, "HNI 2004 National Bowhunting Champions", kinda like the super bowls. We are the No. 1 winners of 2004 and history has been made and should go down as such. Not sure if HNI would pick up the cost but maybe they'll give us authorization to use there name on the shirts. What'll ya think?

What I really think is I have not heard of everyone on our team check in since teams were picked. I would feel alot better if they did. Then we will just win this years as well. Don't go planning on them shirts just yet.;)

A couple of teammates? I do believe it took more than a couple to win last yr.and the ones that did not score were on the vurge of taggingsome very nice bucks that would have blown the whole competition wide open and all the otherteamsaway!;)

Team; let all of the common folk snipe at us. We can say that we've been to the winner’s circle before. Enough said.

Hey, I am happy to report I finally broke out my bow and dusted off the cobwebs and shot it a little over the weekend. I decided it wasn't tuned the way it needed to be so I messed with the rest. Didn't want to do it and thought I would screw it up. Good news is that it is shooting much well. I'm not positive if it couldn't be a little better but 3" groups at 40 yards, I'll take it.

That's not the best news I had over the weekend. Friday night coming into my neighborhood I spotted a nice buck with potential. He was a decent 8 pointer with a high rack and about a 15-18 inch spread. On Saturday, I stepped out my basement door and heard some noise a there was that 8 point slipping out of my yard into the woods, mid-day. He may have been sleeping under my dogwood below my deck. He's not big enough to shoot this year but like I said, good potential. I'm just happy to finally see one with potential around my house. Heaven knows something is nocking up the heard that lives in my yard at night.

Fieldmouse, don't you just hate it when those deer become a nusaince?
In one part of my yard I attract them with a salt lick to watch them from the kabin, just kinda entertaining but I don't think I could really shoot one cause there kinda like my pets. I had a 6x6 at the lick last year and just watched it and wouldn't feel right in shooting him, not to mention its illegal also, but I just morally wouldn't feel right about it.
I do have two treestands on the corner of my 21 acres here bordering the national forest, now if Mr. Big comes by there, he's S-O-L. ;)

Haven't checked in for a bit, thought I'd drop a line. I'm excited for the season and this contest again, don't get me wrong, but the older I get, the more I like the mid to late season. I hate getting into a tree when it's 75, and get out when it's 50. I prefer hunting the peak rut - end of Oct through the start of gun (Nov.15 here in MI). Anyway, I'm here and will definitely be out there giving it my best for, well, the best! :D

Congrats on the marriage, MB. I haven't been round the boards due to my wife having our baby a little early, and busy at work. But, I am here and willing to work. Going to get the stands situated this coming weekend. Been shootin a little too. I'm ready. I may not be slamming that wall hanger we all dream of, but I'll do my best to throw a buck up for us.

Tribal,

I want to see you kick us off to a great season again. I'm not sure when I can get out. All I know I want to do it sooner rather then later. I'm trying to get a semi new biz off the ground and it will hamper my hunting activities. I will bring in a buck for the team.

Good luck

Congrats on the marriage Mathewsboy.

Season starts here on 1 October ( three weeks of hell left to go). I plan on getting my buck this year by the end of the second week. I have some good candidates in the crosshairs. It should be a good season.

badshotbob 09-08-2005 06:30 AM

RE: Official Team Elite (8) Thread

Season starts here in MI October 1st as well. Although I do prefer the rut and cooler weather for hunting, that never stops me from finding my way up a tree before first light on the 1st of October though. By the last week of September, I'm usually going out of my mind. This year, the neighboring 300 acres of corn field wasn't planted. I'm sure that should make a difference in the deer movement this year.

I had a thought - whoever created our logo last year - how about revising it for us to include: "Current HNI World Champs" of something to that effect. You know, to hang our crown out there - we won and have that right so I think we should take full advantage of that. If I have time, I can try to whip something up in Photoshop if whoever made our logo last year can't do it. Just give me your thoughts on what our winner seal or tag should be.

Season starts in MD on Sept 15, I will be bear hunting in Maine those first 3 days but will be hitting it hard when I get back. As for the logo, I designed the one we had last year, I will try to find where I saved the originals and update it a little bit with our championship information. I have been real busy so give me a few days and I will have a new one ready.
