QUESTIONS
I know for hunting KS than moving to montana, that there is huge difrances on antlers to where you live. With this in mind will there be things done to make the playing field more level? Maby like making the teams members from diftant areas of the usa. Like west, central, east just draw guys/ladys from each area to be on a team.I am very sure if a team of central us get together they will do very very good.and if a team from CA will do very bad.
Do you have to kill the buck where you live? Or is it just the 1st buck you kill any where in the usa? I think this is a great deal you are doing for the site.I would like to thankyou. CHARLES BRADFORD |
RE: QUESTIONS
Teams are randomly selected. You would be surprised from the results from last year. It wasn't the big boys from the mid west who won as everyone thought they would. It was the teams who had a number of smaller bucks to go along with a good buck who finished well.
The 3 top producing states last year for inches was #1Ohio #2 Illinois #3 Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania harvested the highest # of bucks of any state in the contest. It is the first buck you take no matter your legal limit or how many states you may hunt. It must be harvested via fair chase. |

RE: QUESTIONS
Though if I remember right, you could not enter any buck taken on an outfitted hunt. I guess the vote didn't count thoughthere was at least one buck from an outfitted hunt that was entered that I know of. No biggie we just need to figure out the rules and post them preseason for all to see and agree with. Have the rules in place before signups start. By signing up you agree to all rules thatare posted. |
RE: QUESTIONS
I think it's something that needs to be voted on again this year then. I don't believe that outfitted bucks should be allowed into the contest. IMO anyhow.
|
RE: QUESTIONS
How ever it goes it goes. It don't really bother me either way.....
|
RE: QUESTIONS
Honestly, it doesn't really matter that much to me either considering how few deer were actually entered last year.
|
RE: QUESTIONS
Outfitter bucks were allowed last year, I don't even believe it was even voted on. They should be allowed this yearas well. I can't believe it would even be consideredto notallow them.
|
RE: QUESTIONS
I dont think paying to kill a big buck is what it is all about.I think a voat on the people in the contest should deside.
|
RE: QUESTIONS
Outfitter bucks should be allowed.... If not, then all bucks in the mid west should not be allowed.... After all, we all know how easy it is to kill a buck in Illinois right? I mean I've spent 10 days in a stand in IL and could have killed 5 bucks... Sounds stupid right? Same as outlawing outfitter hunts..... BTW, I will not be hunting with an outfitter.

RE: QUESTIONS
Double Creek
If mid west bucks are easy to kill and you saw 5... why didn't you kill one with bow?? Apparently it wasn't so easy or you weren't in the right spot for a big one. :D I didn't see too many illinios bucks killed in the contest, yet there was a few guys from that state in the contest who are good hunters. Killing any buck that walks by is not to hard in most states that have good deer populations which many states that are not mid west have. Killing a big one in any state is still a challenge. Luck plays a big part for mostbowhunters on top of that. I have nothing against guided hunts or that they should be illegal for the contest. I just don't see how you can compare them to someone huntingmid west bucks when they are indeed different. Unlike guided hunts... access to good hunting landand competition from other huntersis a major factor. That alone makes taking a buck a challenge especially if you are holding out for a bigger buck. Anyways, goodluck this year in the contest. What ever they decide... the contest is still just for fun. I hope it stays that way. Tim |
RE: QUESTIONS
Maybe you should re-read my post....... Here's a hint, I was being sarcastic.
|
RE: QUESTIONS
What do you guys think ought to be done about hunters who have leases in the same states that are outfitted out of so popularly?
|
RE: QUESTIONS
Personally I think outfitted hunts should be allowed. We don't want to start segregating amongst ourselves. We all need to stick together as hunters. We have enough problems with the antis segregating for us. We all put time in the woods, we all hone our skills, we all invest money into the sport and we all have to make the shot. Wether you pay to hunt on land or I hunt in my back yard should make no difference. IMHO ;)

RE: QUESTIONS
Let's set the record straight, I have no intention on going on a guided hunt this year and although I have guided in the past and guided hunt harvests last year made no difference in the results of the contest and that guided hunts are no garuantee of success and is considered fair chase,
All legally taken bucks with exception of penned animals will be allowed in this particular contest....no vote necessary as this will be ran as it was last year with real good results. Thanks. |
RE: QUESTIONS
Double Creek
Must admit, I did read it wrong. Got the sarcastic part this time and glad you weren't serious about it. Have heard too many times how easy it is hunting midwest bucks compared to other states. That one alwayserks me a little. Tim |
