We have them here in western NY also... As other posters have said, warmer shallower waters seem to be more likely to be infested than deep, cold water...If there are only a few of the little critters I pop 'em out with the point of my knife...Once or twice I've caught fish with so many grubs that I threw them out..

I've never seen them in trout, pike or walleyes...Seen plenty in bass and panfish, especially bluegills and sunfish, but sometimes in perch and crappies also..
