I am reblueing a barrell from a gun I borrowed from my father in law. I must have put it into its case while it was damp or something - I dont remember doing it. When I opened it up after about two months, I discovered there was rust all over the barrell.

I tried a few methods of getting the rust off, without total success, I used rust/blue remover to start over with a silver barrell.

Is there any tricks or tips to make the end result better?
I would appreciaite the help, Ive never done this before.
