Excellent choices, both weapon and cartridge. the 243 is extremely versatile. Just remember to put a good scope, rings, and mounts on it. I see a lot of good weapons with cheap scopes and see through rings. You know why I see them? Because they won't shoot. Swap out the junk rings and mounts for some Leupold or burris and it fixes half of them. By something other than a Tasco or Simmons scope and the rifle suddenly shoots good. Go Figure! If you're on a budget I would suggest buying a Nikon ProStaff Scope. It is around $120 and you get a good quality scope for your money. Hope this helps.
