If the .243 is "smoking hot" with handloads, the .25-06 will be "smoking hotter"! Looking at Federal's website they offer 9 different combinations for the .243 and 7 combinations for the .25-06. Not that big of a difference. Personally, I'll take the .25-06.

Not taking anything away from the .25, it's a bad ass round, and I would like to get one one day. but the .243 is a better varmint round. For deer the 25 has a slight edge because of the heavier bullet, but the difference is minimul. thats all I meant.
