If I was even thinking of deer hunting with it, I would get the 25-06. I have shot quite a few deer with both the 243 and the 25-06. IMO the 25-06 wins this contest hands down.

A 30-06 doesnt even win hands down. A .243 or 30-06 to the boiler room and the results are the same, a dead deer. The 30-06 doesnt kill any better or any faster than the .243. The 25-06 is the same.
I have used them all. 7 mag, 270, 308, 30-06, 243, 300 mag, and neither gun killed anybetter than the other. The results were the same, a dead deer that sprinted maybe 40 yds.
