Default Hunter Liability

I've read a number of horror stories lately about hunters sued for various things while hunting. So, I contacted my homeowners agent about hunting liability. Here's what she had to say:

"From what I can tell by reading our homeowners contract and from what I understand of the policy our homeowners policy liability would cover you in that situation if you had your home insured with me. The only instance I can tell where it would be specifically excluded is if you were breaking a law, doing something criminal, like hunting out of season or on property where you didn’t have permission, or obviously, if you intentionally shot someone. Other than that we would cover someone in a hunting accident situation"

In short get permission (in writing if you're smart), don't break the law and have the right home-owners insurance. I have Farm Bureau, but I'm sure others cover, just check and make sure.
