Congratulations, but where's the pic of the deer? You are supposed to tell us the story, how she bounced in, offering a front quarter . . . Tell us about where the bullet entered, itstrip through the vitals, and where the bullet lodged. All that gooooood stuff!
How the bullet performed is interesting, but your hunt interests me as well.
I didn't have my phone with the camera with me, Cingular didn't have reception up there, so left the phone at my brother's house to recharge that day.
The story was, my brother and I were watchers on a drive with two guys coming thru some very thick hemlocks. They drivers put out two groups of deer, both to my brother. He fired at one of the deer in the first groupbut had a hang fire. Didn't hit anything. The 2nd group came thru about 5 minutes later, two of them and they were running like crazy right at him. He shot and missed them. They ran down past me, I was about 120 yards away from him--we were in a line. The first doe thru-- I was cocking my FL, and pulling the set trigger, so never en attempted a shot at her. But he 2nd one was following the first on the same path/trail and when she hit the an opening, I was ready with my gunshoulderedand fired. The deer was actually running away from me, and I hit it in the anus, penetrating the bone that holds the pelvis together. This paralized her andwe then shot the deer in the head to finish her off. The deer were running like the wind, 20 foot bounds, fully extended legs, the only reason I got her wasshe was running away during the shot, I could have never "wing shot" her with the FL ML--too close and not enough swing time. I must confess more luck than management. But that is the norm in deer drives in FL season in Penna. I was setting on a stool with a the gun across my lap, so that was a huge factor also in my success, a stable shooting platform. I am not that good at "off hand shooting", with the FL ML. The set trigger really helps on the delay, since the front trigger is a hair trigger. I did miss a couple of other doe at various yardages, howI have no idea, but that is real life hunting on deer drives. It was a lot of fun---small woods patches, 2 watchers and 2 drivers. That is the story.
