Default RE: How do I build a a rabbit trap or snare and is......

The way i make them is like this:

1) first pick up some wire from a hardware store/hunting store. I use brass wire, and currently have 20 gauge wire. Find a converter if "gauge" isn't the measurement for your area.

2) cut off a piece of wire plenty long to make a loop and wrap it around a tree.

3) on one end of the wire make a small loop, then wrap the wire around itself so you have a loop about 3-4mm wide. i use pliers to wrap the wire tightly on itself.

4) take the other end of the wire and run it through the hole you just made, so you form a bigger loop. Tie the other end to a sturdy tree alongside the rabbit trail you've found. Secure the wire to the tree. make a few loops around and be sure to secure it good, but make it so you can remove it again in the future, to use it in a new area

5) Place the noose above the center of you're rabbit trail. I keep mine about the width from the right side of my pinky, to the left side of my index finger.

6) Pile some brush and sticks along side of the trail near the snare. This will force the rabbits to go through the snare that they likely wont even see.

7) The snare will slide tight when a rabbit goes through and essentially hang the rabbit or break its neck.

8) Congratulations on your first snared rabbit!
