Default Shot the Hoyt Vectrix XL Last Night

Well last night I got to be the first person to shoot the 2007 Hoyt Vectrix XL last night at my local shop, They just got them in on tuesday so expect them to start showing up at your local shops soon if they don't have them already.

Well I have to say it is a very nice bow, It reminded me a lot of the Trykon XL with a few upgrades that make it better than the Trykon. The first thing I noticed was the the grip felt just a little bit thicker than the Trykon from last year. I personally thought the Trykon's grip was too thin. I liked the feel of the New Vector and 1/2 cam. Nice gradual increase in weight with a nice crisp breakover at the end of the draw cycle. It reminded alot of Bowtech's Binary cam but smoother. One area I was dissapointed was the finish of the bow. There seemed to be many white dots where the dipping process did not cover the riser correctly and there seemed to be many scratches through the finish to the bare metal from when the bow was assembled at the factory. Also the finish on the bow has a very rough texture to it, I'm not too sure what to think of that.

Now on to the shooting. I have to say the bow is a very nice shooter. There is next to no noticeable hand shock on realease. But there was the all too familliar string buzz after firing a shot, but I do have to say it is much less than the Trykon last year and dissapeared very quickly. The sts type sytem Hoyt has included on the bow is very nice and seems to be well made. The supressor actually has a grove it it where the string will hit it instead of a flat surface and the supressor has little shock absobtion chambers in it likie a gun recoil pad would have. Hoyts STS system does not look like it can be adjusted to move it closer or further away from the string. I think has it set for what they feel is the optimal place for performance. Right now it looks to be set at about 1/8"- 1/4" away from the string. The bow was extremely quiet on the shot, probably one of the quietest bows I have ever shot. It also balanced very well in my hand even without a stabilizer on it. If you put something like a sims s-coil stab on it it would balance perfectly. The back wall of the draw was just slightly spongy but they include a drawstop to screw into the the cam to give a solid back wall. And the final thing I really did not care for was the price, $759. Right in line with all of the other manufacturers but I still don't like it.

But overall it is a quality bow with some nice improvements from last years Trykon. I think many hoyt fans will be pleased along with anyone else looking for a quality bow. I feel the Vectrix XL is a very nice fit for someone looking for a bow to pull double duty as a target bow and a hunting bow. Overall a very pleasurable shooting experience last night.
