I HAVE SEEN DEER MANAGEMENT AREAS ON TV, WERE A FENCE SUROUNDS THE PROPERTY SO THE DEER WILL EAT THE PROER SUPPLEMENTS THAT ARE PLANTED FOR THEM.
SOME QUESTIONS I HAVE ARE
1. HOW TALL OF A FENCE?
2. HOW MANY ACRES SHOULD BE NEEDED?
3. WHAT SHOULD DEER POPULATION BE?
4. ARE THERE ANY REGULATIONS OR LAWS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESS?
THANKS ICEMAN
1. 8 foot fence with 2 strands of high tensile. One placed at 9' and the other at 10' making a total of a 10' high fence
2. As much as feasibly possible. I hope that you aren't planning on hunting penned deer, but if you are make it as big as you can so that the deer actually have a chance to elude you. I would keep it to AT LEAST one acre per deer. If you can, make it even 3-4 acres per deer. This will prevent disease and keep the pen from mudding up.
3. Again, no more than 1 deer to every acre or acre and a half of pen maximum.
4. Contact your local game commission or department of agriculture, although I believe the department of ag is taking over deer propogation in all states from the game commssions. There are laws and regulations that you will need to follow.
