I now that very scenario (Bob described) happened to a buddy of mine during a hunt. He called the game warden. The game warden proceeded to talk to the owner who would not let anyone in. He got nowhere with the owner. So, the game warden called a highway patrolman to the scene. Long story short, the highway patrolman dragged the deer to the fenceline to where it could be retrieved for my buddy. I don't know much about the legal rights of highway patrolmen, but I do know they need no search warrant to search a vehicle on a roadway. Maybe it transfers over to property as well.

But, the story is that I am sure there isn't a game warden around who wouldn't help out in a situation like this. There is always a way to get things done like that.
