I sot a doe last year at 50 yards with a 12 gauge slug in the top of the shoulder. Dropped so fast i didnt see her drop and thought i missed when all the others ran off. I walked up and there she was. Broke both shoulders, had to finish her though. NOT a killing shot. All things considered she dropped right in her tracks.
