Default RE: 7mm vs. 30-06

Mtboy, I think the 308 bullet selection really clouds the decision process and the 06. Like i mentioned many of the 06' guys don't ever seem to choose to throw the 200 and 220 gr offerings for most big game.(Big bears maybe or the guy that actually still believes bigger lead shoots through trees and bush...LOL) Why, the advantages aren't really their with the 06 and the large lead offerings...so why make it an issue. I think this maybe one of the reason people say the 06' is such a perfect all arounder. Sure it does it, but it really does nothing great with the 308 bullet selection. If you want that performance with those large pieces of lead then go with a the big guns...the 06' is just a me too,t not a big performer in any category.

It is a good caliber but hardly can be considered the best, especially if your basis are all on the 30 cal bullet selection it can chuck.

Given the 2 choices the 7 Rem Mag to me is the better choice. Not cause it is a mag, but it's numbers prove better than that of the 06 in all realistic usages. While I can't load 200 gr bullet with my 7 mm mag, I don't think I need to...well unless they find a big population of griz & kodiak hiding just north of PA, Saskatchewan or some one indeed proves a new theory that 200 gr lead will cut pines in half and still kill my moose<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.
