Default RE: 7mm vs. 30-06

I guess "splitting hairs" was a too fine a distinction. Splitting match sticks? or splitting pencils? or splitting broom sticks? There is a diffrence between the 06 an 7mm mag. for sure. But a moose, elk or deer hit through the chest at even 300 yds. with eather round is not going to be aware of which penitrated it faster or deeper or with more ft/lbs.

So I guess we could say that beyond 300 yds the 7mm mag. shows off some more muscle and would have an advantage. Shots passed 300 yds. are possible but made more often on paper than in the field.

I'm not saying anything negative about the 7mm mag. It has a HUGE advantage over a 30/30 or a .243 or a 257 roberts for moose and elk. But the advantage over the 06 is just not that huge in my view.
