Splitting hairs, huh? I knew someone would misread my last post so let me clarify. 220gr 06 vs. 175gr 7mm mag.
Muzzle 300yds 500yds (Energy in ft lbs.)
220gr 2835 1300 760
175gr 3180 1960 1370
Trajectory(200yds) 300 yds 500yds
220gr -13.1 -82.2
175gr -7.6 -44.9
Hardly splitting hairs, big difference. So to answer the original question, I would go with the 7mm because it's more gun.
