Default RE: 7mm vs. 30-06

I't always interesting to take off on tangents and split hairs when discussing the merits of diffrent cartridges. However the original question was not "which will flatten a griz faster?" or"which will ventilate a pronghorn in the next county?"

I have never taken a head of game with eather but from what I have heard and read of both, you could flip a coin and not be too unhappy with a custom rifle in eather round. As some have said the 06 has a bit more variety in bullet selection for reloading. And you are more likley to find a box of ammo in a small town hardware store or service station.

To get away from the paramitters of the question a bit; if I were going to have somthing as exotic as a custom rifle, I would probably want it in a somewhat more exotic cartridge. A 208 rem. or a 300 WSM or a 7 X 61 Sharpe & Hart or a .35 whelen.
