Default RE: 7mm vs. 30-06

Mtboy go to www.federalcartridge.com. Compare a 220 gr speer hot cor SP for an 06 and a 175 gr Hi-shok SP for a 7mm. The 7mm has a very sizeable advantage. At 300 yds the 220gr bullet has 1300 foot lbs of energy. At 500 yds the 175gr bullet has 1370 foot lbs of energy. Also look at the trajectory of the 2. Compare bullets of the same weight and you will see the 06 actually has a little more energy out of the barrel and up to about 100 yds. After that the 7mm has an advantage giving you a flatter trajectory and more range. It carries its energy better than the 06 down range.
