Chief, what CG and FLHunter are telling you is correct. I shoot a Scott 'lil Goose with back tension for 3D. The trick is to hook your finger over the trigger to the first joint. I've experimented with using my middle finger, also. It feels awkward, but works great once you get used to it. I find my release is much cleaner using back tension.
