RE: Meat on the table?
I used to never feel like it. In my opinion the only thing deer did was make my insurance go up! BUt then about four years ago that all changed and I started looking at them differently. I used to never pass on deer but after a bad shot on a buck I started to want to pass on them and do better. I think I posted this story before the CB forum even got started so I went and found it and copied and pasted it. Here was my experiance tolearn to admire the deer story.....
I spine shot a small buck above the shoulder paralized all legs but one front leg, bleed real bad. So I thought I would just wait it out, the deer seamed calm just needed to let it bleed out. After about ten minutes the blood stoped and the deer seamed to be relaxing. Me being the big hunter I was thought I'll just get out of the tree and slit its throat. Mistake!! as soon as I got half way out of the tree the deer seen me and started grunting so loud it almost hurt my ears. Then it started that sreaming crap and spining on the one leg in circles. I had a hard time placing the shot as it spun on the ground but was able too. But when I shot the buck stoped spining and looked right at me in the eyes and the only thing I could think of was if he could get up I would be a dead man. I tossed my bow on the ground and went to the house to get the ATV and sat in the garage for about twenty minutes in complete disgust! I almost went out and dug a hole for the darn thing. But I came to and went and got him.
That deer messed with my head for a long time!!!
