Actually that is not a bad idea. I used a dethatching blade once on my push mower years ago. It trashed the lawn enough to require over seeding and I never used it again.

but you are right, to rake ground and expose more soil, it would work great for "no-til" type brassica and clover plots. Roundup the plot at least 2 weeks ahead of raking and planting.
