Make sure you're adjusting the dials on both the top and bottom to get the magnetic holders to come into alignment; there's simply no way you shouldn't be able to get your clamp to lay perfectly straight on your shaft. That's the beauty of having the two seperate dials; together, they offer almost infinite adjustability.
