Default RE: Bohning Fletching Jig

I have both the Bitz and the new red Bohning. I picked up the Bohning when I was out of town and needed a jig. It was the cheapest one that Bass Pro had.

It's basically a plastic copy of the Bitz. It works well as the Bitz, but is a little more difficult to set up. Also, the magnet that holds the clamp doesn't seem quite as strong as the one on the Bitz. I wouldn't get one for a shop or someone who fletches a lot of arrows. I think that the Bitz will be more durable. However, if you only fletch a few dozen arrows a year and don't mind the more difficult setup, it's a good value.

The Bohning is solid & accurate when you twist over to the next vane. It's even a little better than the Bitz. I don't know if this is because it is new or if it will wear and become sloppy. I haven't had it that long.

The Bohningthat I have isthe new red jig at about $30 that they brought out recently.I've also seen a gray "Pro" jig that is also plastic and almost as expensive as the Bitz. I would definitely buy the Bitz beforethe gray one.
