You know I kinda sit here looking at these 5 pages and it does entertain me.
So lets be honest, you really didn't want advise or help with accuracy. You wanted people to agree with you. And tell you your doing the right thing. Kinda like gratification. Wouldn't that be alot easier from the start to say. Instead of the song and dancetrying to convinceeveryone that its not you and trying to prove it with 5/8" groups all the time? You know how many tackdriving tales we hear on here. Alot.
So let me get this straight. You found a guy who said he's a gunsmith that will say a without a doubt button rifled barrels are more accurate than cut barrels? See, this is where a knowlegde of a person shows. Little details. A barrel is a barrel. They should be uniform and they should be smooth. But what lot of people overlook, is the dominating factor is the chamber, action square, equal contact on lugs, bedding and crown. You can take a top notch barrel from Dan Lilja, and you mess up the chamber, or contact on lugs are out, and it won't shoot woth a darn. Or you can take a cheap remington barrel and make sure headspace is perfect, crown is square, and it can and does alot shoot your 5/8 MOA or less.
