Default RE: Peep Sight Woes

ORIGINAL: 98Redline

I am guessing that you are using one of the peeps that lays flat in the string such as a shurz-a-peep or a no loose peep. When you draw the peep does not come completely vertical, leaving you with an oval as opposed to a round sight picture.
If this is the case, I would say ditch it, and go for something that is set at a downward angle at rest. They become perfectly vertical at full draw giving you a nice round sight picture.
Goodness gracious you are right, I am using one of those peeps and I feel so retarded now. It's the simplest things that'll do the oddest things. Just as a comparison, I'm a well known member on a car forum and I've helped people diagnose their cars and narrow the problem down to a frayed ground causing all kinds of havoc. Redline, I think you hit the nail on the head sir!

As for the varying sight picture my guess is that you are leaning your head in and out, resulting in the apparent changing size of the sight housing.
No, I'm not leaning in and out, I'm sure of it. In good light I can shoot hours at a time and group consistently. With less light than that, the picture or circles start to slop around creating my alignment issues. I think it's just the oval in the peep that's causing the light diffraction I'm experiencing.

if you can get some sort of extension bar for your sight it may be nice.
What is an extension bar and what would it do for me? I'm guessing that it moves my pin sight out away from the bow more so that I can see the entire circle? -as of right now the riser is blocking me from seeing the entire circle.
