I have two wood strikers that get glossed over just like you say, and try to sand them. It works for a while. I also have some plastic/synthetic ones. I like the hollowed out kind better than the ones with the whole bottom solid for not whining. But the wood does sound good on the aluminator.

I got some good advice from someone in here who is a big aluminator fan and will work on callingover the next few days.
