RE: Changing strings how often?
I have only had one string let go and it must've happened while the bow was in storage 'cause I opened the case and it was broken. I shot the factory Hoyt cables on my old Defiant at 80 lbs. for about 3000 shots per year. I'd say they lasted about 10000 shots before the string let loose in the case. I'll typically get 3-4 seasons out of a set of strings and cables but that's with fanatical care of them to keep any dirt or sand out of them and keep them lubed religiously. I just replaced the set on my 72 lb. UltraTech after 5 seasons and they showed no wear, but I'd be surprised if I shoot 1000 arrows a season these days. (I just wanted to get into string building and figured it was about time to replace them.)
