Try checking with the local USDA-NRCS office. The folks there should be able to help you out. They can pull up maps of your place, both satellite and soil, and help you with site selection, also.

As for the rain situtation....[:@] I haven't had enough rain to even bring the winter wheat up. It emerged and that's about it. This year's crop is not looking to promising. A day or two back, the wheat saw it's first drop of rain since it was planted in October. It got a quarter of an inch. It won't do much, but it sure beats nothing.
