The crabapples from the Saratoga nursery are a domestic variety I've never seen growing.

I'm not sure what a "crabapple" really is - most of the apples we are all familiar with in the northeast are Domestic Apples - gone wild. And like others have said - some are great - some are bitter and the deer walk right over them.

I'd lean towards real Apple Tree varieties over the Crabapples - You can get 2 year old Whips - darn cheap - and you will know what you are getting (what variety).
