Unfortunately that is a disease that effects many people.Many will attempt shots that they have no business taking because they think that using a cartridge that is effective at longer range automatically makes them a competentlong rang shooter.The truth is that only a very low percentage of hunters are competent in excess of 300 yards.To become proficient at 400yards or 500 yards requires a great deal of practise at those distances,to learn the trajectory of your load and to develop and maintain the shooting skills necessary for precise bullet placement at those distances.I set my own limits by never taking a shot at a game animal at any distance that I have not practised on targets at.If everyone else did the same the result would be far fewer misses and far fewerwounded animals.
