RE: Official Team 12 thread
October 14th - Went to my stand location to hang my bow hanger and other hangers so I won't have to do that on Saturday when I get in the tree. Checked the camera and had 18 pictures on my camera. Retrieved film and took it to Wal-Mart for developing. Nothing but does in the photos, but meat is meat.
October 15th - Well the short story is no deer!
Got up at 4 am, fixed breakfast and got gear put in the truck. Had to leave the house and get across the New River Gorge Bridge before they closed it for stinking Bridge Day!
Got to the woods at 6:30 AM, the sky was clear and it was about 51 degrees. Before leaving the truck to go to my stand, I thought I saw someone coming in to our area behind us on the logging road. But, to my surprise it was a 4 wheeler coming out right behind us on an old 4 wheeler trail. We thought that was strange that someone would be coming out of the woods and heading out the logging road. The only way in is from the logging road, kinda of made me wonder if there might of been some poaching going on.
Well I was in my hunting area and up the tree by 7 AM.
At around 8:15 AM saw two grey squirrels, dang I wish I had my 22! Then at 9 AM saw two more grey squirrels.
Did here a deer snort at around 9:10 AM, sounded like it came from my brother in laws direction.
At 12:35 PM saw one more grey squirrel.
Saw plenty of birds, listened to the farmers cows and donkey all morning and then as evening approached listened to them again.
Sat in that stand for 12 hours straight...man but butt hearts, even though I stood some.
When leaving the woods and heading to the truck at 7 PM I noticed that big full moon out there...probably the reason weweren't seeing any deer. Their moving at night!
I know there are deer in the area, cameras don't lie, but of course the cameras do show that most of the activity is at dark.
Well there is next Friday and Saturday to try again.
