It could be bad, if there are so many on the ground that the deer don't have to search for that one tree that has lost them. In other words, if the foods right in front of them, they might not move to the edge or where ever it looked like they might be feeding before. On the other hand, if you know where some good bedding is, then they might not move too far from that to feed, narrowing down your choices.
