RE: Is this a decent deal?
Finally got to shoot the 700 BDL this week-end. Picked up a box of 150 Rem. Core-Lokt last week from Wally World, with as much as everyone makes about recoil I was hesitant to start out with the 180 Hornady Light Mags. Up to now the largest centerfire I've shot is a .223 Ruger Ranch rifle, but I bird hunt with a 870 12 gauge and have hunted deer with slugs... and I have a TC Omega I hunt deer with, so I do have a frame of reference when it comes to recoil. Well, the ott-6 is definitely a boomer, with some recoil, but nothing I haven't felt before and I'd judge it less than a 3" 12 gauge slug out of an 870. I shot it the first time standing free hand, just to get a feel for it. I think it will do the job if I do my part.
