lol DA so Cabela's owes me a commission check?
Yep, a quality wood piece just does something to ya! Especially when you already have others at home that are run of the mill plastic and steel. You are right about the great feeling of the 8400, wait till you shoot that sweet thing. And BRAVO on the scope as well. The A series Swaries are right at home on WSMs and light rifles. I say you got THE perfectly matched setup. I pick those scopes up all the time while fondling small/light rifles. With the TDS Plex reticle you have a "friend"

that can do ANYTHING you can name in big game hunting. Go short from a treestand, DONE! Go long from a canyon top, DONE. Go straight down a cliff after sheep, DONE! The package is a PREMIUM quality "one gun, one caliber" setup and I KNOW you will be pleased with it. Like I said, you think it's sweet now just wait until you pull the trigger.
Lastyear at that industry gathering in WY I spent more time with the boys from Kimber than anywhere else, and the rifle I most fired was their 8400 in 270WSM with the exact scope you have with the TDS Plex reticle. The muni range in Cody, WY has 500yd targets and they were childsplay. Eventually the rangemaster showed us a steel ram he put on a hillside behind the range at 1000yds. Once I doped the wind and drop I made several hits on the ram! (Certainly wouldn't try killing game at that range but it was fun shooting a 3' long target that far away!)
Ok so your wife has laid claim too this one (a chick who enjoys fine rifles, she gotta sister?) sounds like you have "carte blanche" to go back and get that Montana. NOW you can get that 325 WSM (I'd stick with the lil Swarie, you AINT gonna beat it in a scope that size!) for that "practical side" of you. LOL but I will lay you 10-1 you would find yourself taking the 8400 out more!!!
Good luck and enjoy that GREAT rig,
RA
