Well no bird Sat., I talked to 2 different gobblers around 9am, one went into the field after about 20 minutes of coaxing and kept going.. the other one never showed himself, he was fired up, would answerduring the call back.. I was hunting a large rye field with a pine block tothe north and a large cutoverto the west. There is a large canal between thefield and cutover and I know it drawssome birds. The 2nd gobbler I worked came from the cutover to the canal and would not cross/fly over it to me, a littlefrustrating[:@] but nonetheless fun.

A front moved in and it cooledoff and became quite windy for the afternoon, unable to find or hear any then.

I'll be going back next week so it ain't over till it's over!

I'm finally going to get in on the action, headed back to KS after work tomorrow. Of course, the weatherman is calling for rain from Thursday through Sat. night, so it might be tough getting in on good action. Got a freind that I'm taking back with me who has never killed a turkey. SO, priority #1 is to get him his first.
Talked to my buddy back there and he tells me that they still aren't breeding yet. He's got his dad and a cousin of his filmed with archery kills. We'll also be using the bow and arrows, BUT if it comes down to it, I'll let my friend pull out the powder burner to kill his first.
Good luck this weekend everyone. See ya Sunday night.
