Good Luck Flyboy77, I wish our season was starting Sat. The last couple of mornings I have stepped out of the house and the gobblers are just going nuts! Going to turn a little cooler here for the next couple of days, so maybe that will slow them down a little.
Steve G. Be sure and post some pictures. |
RE: Team 15 Thread

RE: Team 15 Thread
ok guys.
a couple of things. - if anyone knows who made the winning sticker. can you please let JW know as there has been a problem at the printer. - when you guys get yourself a bird be sure to take a clear picture with the weapon you shot it with. and be sure to get some good pics with a tape measure so we have no problems with nah Sayers. - http://www.nwtf.org/all_about_turkeys/turkey_score.html here is the site for your scoring. - please post your scores and pics on the team thread as the moderators will be checking. - be safe and have a good time out. good luck everyone. |
RE: Team 15 Thread
Guys, just checking in. Our season starts 4/4. I think I have our opening morning spot picked out. Lots of daily tracks right down the access road. Went to another spot and bust a dozen birds. May hold off for the second weekend though.

RE: Team 15 Thread
Hey guys back from our opening weekend! It was one of those "thats why we call it hunting weekends" The birds were gobbling well but we just couldnt close the deal. We fooled with them and they gobbled but no cigar. Oh well thats why they call it hunting and not killing. Ill be going back troughout the season so hopfully we can close the deal.

RE: Team 15 Thread
Weather here has been bad so it's a good thing season hasn't opened yet. Youth season starts this weekend and regular season on the 11th. I'll be hunting locally with a gun on public land for the first two weeks. Once I put down one with the shotgun I'll switch to my recurve. I'm taking off the 24th and 25th for my birthday and hunting our family farm back east where the birds are dumber and should get a chance at one with the bow then if the weather cooperates.
|
RE: Team 15 Thread
yep weather is a big issue here too.

RE: Team 15 Thread
Wheather here was bad. Now its awesome. 50-60 degrees and sunny. Just a few days before we had 4-6 inches of snow on the ground, now not even a flake of snow is on the ground.
I might be going out the youth season with just a video camera and my calls. Just to see what comes by. I wont start hunting till the following weekend (when the second season opens up). Hey guys, are any of your filming your hunts? I am, and I was thinking of putting together a video of our team (just the people who have access to a video camera and are willing to do it). I would like atleast 3 or 4 guys to add to the video if possible, to make it look nice. |
RE: Team 15 Thread
i was thinking about taking my camera out. il let you know how that goes.:D
|
RE: Team 15 Thread
Alright, Im gonna have a heck of a time trying to film my hunts by myself while shooting my bow. Should be a fun experience.

RE: Team 15 Thread
Well, opening morning was exciting for my daughter and I. Set up by 6:20 and had three younger gobblers come by at 7. Looks like she missed or didn't get enough into the bird. Will go back at it next Sat.
|
RE: Team 15 Thread
well good luck. i will be heading out Monday morning if its not too windy. its forecast for 30 m/h winds, and not too sure if it would be worth my time heading out with a bow in those winds

RE: Team 15 "The Struttn' Studs"
Boy reading about you guys going out and getting your birds. Sure is going to make the next 21 days long. Congrats to all who got one and good luck to those still chasing them.
|
RE: Team 15 "The Struttn' Studs"
I get out there next weekend. Youth season starts this weekend. I might be going out to have a chat with the turkeys and also to set the blind up. Ill be taking the camera out guys so hopefully I come back with some nice footage.
|
RE: Team 15 "The Struttn' Studs"
well i season started today, and il be heading out on the weekend, i counted 16 birds today so i should have a nice choice of bird.
|
RE: Team 15 "The Struttn' Studs"
Youth season started Saturday but it was too cold and windy to take my young ones. Saw a few turkeys in a field Wednesday and the gobbler was displaying. Slowed the car down and rolled down the window and he gobbled. My youngest son (18 months) laughed. Sunday was perfect weather but they're calling for snow today. Don't know what this weekend will be like or if the weather changes will shut down the birds.
|
RE: Team 15 "The Struttn' Studs"
well i hope the weather is being nicer to you guys than it is to me. i did get to go out on saturday and there were some sightings but they had other things on there mind and went the other way. on the up side i had a great morning and got to try out some of my new calls.

RE: Team 15 "The Struttn' Studs"
Well atleast you saw some things.
Youth season was this weekend... One of my friends shot a jake. Tonight we went to the pond to burn off the leaves and when we drove down two geese flew up. We started burning around the cabin and on the dam when I spotted a big goose nest close to the water. I walked down to it and their was 5 big goose eggs in there. I raked around the nest so the fire wouldn't get to them and we watched as the fire went around making sure it wouldn't touch them. The geese flew onto the side hill about 100 yards away just watching us. I hope the smoke from the fire wouldn't do anything with the eggs. I took some pictures but I had to replace the memory card on my trail camera so I switched with my digital camera one. We got everything burned off so I went to my turkey hunting spot to mess around with the trail cameras and to set my blind up. My blind is in a awesome spot. As I was driving out I saw a turkey (I thought it was a tom) on the hill next to us, I got pretty excited about that. I havent really been out much to check for turkeys or turkey signs to make sure they are out there. Like I've mentioned before, im gonna film my hunts. I got my camera stand in place. Hopefully the camera can video good enough through the shoot through windows on the blind. I checked the trail camera and I had a bunch of deer but sadly no turkeys. Ill post some of the deer pics in the trail camera section soon if you want to see them. |
