Scouting – Pre Season

43.jpgPre-season scouting is of utmost importance. During summer, most bucks and does live and feed in the same areas they will inhabit when hunting season kicks off. Summer deer are not wary, since they haven’t been hunted for months. Glass crop fields or pastures on lazy summer evenings and again in the mornings. You might spot a buck or two that you can hunt come October.

Spring and summer are good times to scout for old rubs and scrapes from last season. Deer are habitual-they signpost in the same areas each fall. Also, if you spook a few deer on a summer scouting mission, so what? The animals will settle back down before hunting season rolls around.
