Red-necked grebe (podiceps grisegena)
Living in the same areas as the horned grebe, this large bird, which grows to almost two feet in length, has a black head, yellow bill and a white crescent on each side of its face. It migrates in loose formations, breeds in close-knit, isolated pairs and nests on the edges of lakes.
