The smallest species of swan (it still grows close to five feet in length), this bird is completely white except for its bill and parts of its face, both of which are black. They live in the ponds and lakes of the Arctic tundra, moving to the coasts of the US in the winter. (They've been known to move as far south as Texas and Arizona, too.) They swim with their necks held stiff and straight in the air, not curved like other swans.
