Harlequin Duck (hisrionicus histrionicus)
Living primarily in Alaska and along the west coast of Canada, these birds inhabit the rivers and rocky coasts of these areas, diving for food and nesting. The males are a solid slate color with random stripes and dots of white or black on the body and a white and gold stripe running along the top of their heads. (Females, surprisingly, aren't brown, but rather a grayish color with two white spots on each side of their head.)
