What Happened? How about this current weather pattern in the Midwest? Normally at this time of the year we would be preparing for the spring stocking of grass seed, fertilizer, and mulch at our distributor & dealer locations. And landscapers would be calling to discuss their spring seed needs. Oddly enough we already completed cycle one of both of these elements. Landscapers are mowing turf, flowers are blooming and the season is fully underway. Most dealers and distributors are reordering.
This early onset of spring also brings some early opportunities, overseeding, aeration and renovation ... its time.
Turf is utilizing nutrients earlier than normal; weed crops are present earlier than years past. Warmer weather and spring rains afford a good window of repair. Remember aeration, followed by over seeding and fertilization is your number one option to bring the lawn up to speed for this season. There is a lot of winter damage and persistent damage from last summer.
